Matthew C. McFee, CHP

Senior Health Physicist, Project Manager

Current Job Responsibilities

For the Mound Dose Assessment Project Mr. McFee's major responsibilities included the quality control review and uploading of individual exposure histories for a Department of Energy contract for historical exposures to plutonium, polonium, and other nuclides. He worked with the CINDY dose assessment software, as well as PIE (Polonium Integrated Exposure) and LSMPo (Linear Statistical Modeling for Polonium) custom dose assessment software. Additional duties included setting up and operating a sodium iodide spectroscopy system at a contract location for analysis of samples on-site.

Since September 2002 he has worked on the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA) under contract to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). From September 2002 to March 2004 Mr. McFee was assigned as the Task 4 (Claimant Contact) Manager. Task 4 is responsible for conducting claimant interviews (using a client-approved script) per the mandate of the EEOICPA; initiating contact with claimants in the EEOICPA, and with responding to claimant inquiries as they are received. As Task 4 Manager, he was responsible for setting up the process from start to finish; for hiring all personnel in all aspects of the operation; for setting policy, production goals, and operating procedures. As Task 4 Manager he was responsible for a staff of 33 individuals. In addition, Task 4 was recognized by the client as being notably efficient and effective.

Since June 1, 2004, after serving as interim Task 5 manager for 3 months to allow for a key transition, Mr. McFee has served as the assistant to the Associate Project Director for production. Duties include the creation, revision, and review of technical documents and procedures; assisting in the resolution of project-wide technical issues affecting dose reconstruction production, and the planning and implementation of policies and processes to meet production goals.
