Current Job Responsibilities

Mr. King was responsible for performing historical internal radiation dose assessments in support of the Mound Pre-1989 Dose Assessment Project. Dose assessments were based on historical bioassay results and other recorded information for former Department of Energy Mound site workers and were performed using the CINDY code and other software developed for the project.

Currently, Mr. King is serving as an internal dose reconstructor for the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Dose Reconstruction Program. He provides health physics support, including technical basis document and procedure preparation, dose reconstruction and data analysis, to assist with dose reconstructions for claimants under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act. He also evaluates data relevant to Special Exposure Cohort petitions, and performs dose reconstruction research.

In 2008, a new ANSI standard (ANSI/HPS N13.54-2008 “Fetal Radiation Dose Calculations”) will be published. Mr. King was one of the co-authors this document that was 10 years in the making.
